STRIA
Stria delves into the dynamics and imprints left by the sweep of a brushstroke on paper, transforming these intricate and unpredictable marks into tangible shapes. This transformation, achieved through the age-old terrazzo technique, embeds marble and coloured concrete to mirror the singular and irreplaceable motion of the brushstroke.
Marble pieces are meticulously sculpted with an angle grinder to modify and curve their edges, creating gaps that are subsequently filled with coloured concrete. The technique creates unique patterns, echoing both layered brushstrokes and the natural layering found in ancient rock formations.
This artistic approach is realised across two creations, a bench and a dining table. Each unique and distinctive piece is a testament to the gesture’s significance and critical role of human interaction.
